About CEF Explorer
Last updated Sep 23, 2026
CEF Explorer is a research database for closed-end funds listed on U.S. exchanges. It exists to make six questions easy to answer for any fund: what it owns, how it generates its distributions, what it costs, how much leverage it uses, how its price and NAV have performed, and whether its discount is unusual relative to its own history.
It is a database first, not a leaderboard or a blog. Every figure carries a date and a source; every calculation follows a published methodology; rankings are descriptive and never padded; missing data is shown as missing.
The site is independent of fund sponsors. It does not provide investment advice. See the financial disclosures, data sources and editorial policy.
